My Time with the Lord, Christine Kwan In June 2000, I graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles, with a bachelor's degree in linguistics and computer science, minoring in education. I am the youngest of four children, and my three older siblings went to the Full-Time Training in Anaheim (FTTA), a Bible Truth and Church Service Training. Whenever I asked them about their experience, they told me the Training had a tremendous positive impact on their lives and that it was one of the best times of their life. They learned so much about the truth in the Bible and they had so many enjoyable experiences with others. So in the fall of 2000, I decided to follow their path and I began my first term of the Full-Time Training in Anaheim. In the training, there is a period of 30 minutes between breakfast and class time, which is devoted to personal time with the Lord by yourself. Witness Lee emphasized contacting the Lord every morning, to talk to Him, to read the Bible, and to pray. Witness Lee even has a booklet titled A Time With the Lord. Psalm 5:3 says, O Jehovah, in the morning You will hear my voice; In the morning I will set forth my words in order to seek You, And I will watch. In college, I would turn to the Lord in the morning, but sometimes not every morning, and definitely not for a full half hour. Since coming to the Training and having this allotted time to be with the Lord, it has revolutionized my Christian life. During the day, there is a supply. Verses I read from the Bible would be the instant word to me to strengthen me in situations. Answers to prayers would be given later that day. My love and care for people around me increased. I realized that this is the base for our living. When we meet together, in the local churches, our talking to one another is sharing with one another what we experienced in our personal relationship with Him. Starting in the morning, this builds up a personal relationship with God and He feels so close and so real. He becomes a living Person to me, Someone I can talk to, tell everything to, let Him know who I am and what I am going through, and the result is that I love Him more and more. For the rest of my life, I desire to continue having time with Him. A good foundation was laid in the Training, and I hope to build upon it with many more times of beholding and reflecting the Lord in the morning (2 Corinthians 3:18).
